The House of Representatives said when they could vote on aid to Ukraine

Last year, US President Joe Biden asked Congress for more than $100 billion to help Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, as well as protect America’s border.

The US House of Representatives is expected to vote on the Ukraine aid package in mid-March. This is what the head of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the US House of Representatives, Michael McCaul, said on Friday, February 16, Reuters reports.

“I don’t want to speak for the Speaker, but I think he wants to go through the appropriations process first — which will take us to March 8th — and then move on to making additional appropriations,” McCaul said.

McCaul stressed that the Ukraine aid bill will pass the House if House Speaker Michael Johnson allows a vote, despite opposition from a vocal group of lawmakers most closely aligned with former President Donald Trump.

“The brainwashing, if you will, that we supposedly have to choose between our southern border and Ukraine has already taken place. I don’t agree with that. I think we’re a big nation and we can do both,” said McCall.

We remind you that on February 13, the US Senate supported a package that provides more than $60 billion for Ukraine – mainly for military aid. But the Senate’s decision to appropriate the money is not enough – the bill must be passed by the House of Representatives.

On February 15, Speaker of the House of Representatives Mike Johnson ended the House week early and declared a nearly two-week recess without considering the Allied Relief Bill.

US President Joe Biden spoke clearly about the two-week break that congressmen took without considering a bill to help Ukraine.
