During his sermons, he justified a full-scale Russian invasion and takeover of parts of Ukraine. And in personal conversations with parishioners, he convinced them to go to Russia or the temporarily occupied regions of our state to help Russian troops.
At the same time, the archpriest did not hide that he expected the Dnepropetrovsk region to be captured.
The SBU does not name the detainee, but Ukrayinska Pravda, citing its own sources, writes that we are talking about Alexander Lunegov, the rector of the “Church of St. John the Merciful” parish of the Dnepropetrovsk diocese of the UOC in the village of Pismenny, Vasilkovsky district, Dnepropetrovsk region.
He was detained in September 2022.
The court found the attacker guilty under Part 3 of Art. 436-2 of the Criminal Code (justification, recognition as lawful, denial of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants) and sentenced him to 5 years in prison.
