France sees the need for a more coherent organization of European defense and strengthening coordination between armies.
French Foreign Minister Stephane Sejournet expressed concerns about a possible Russian attack on NATO and called for increased defense investment.
In an interview with the newspaper Ouest France, he emphasized that Paris has definitely decided to double the funding for military programs, viewing it as an existing issue for the European Union.
Sejournet noted that in the current geopolitical context, it is important to ask ourselves the right questions and ensure that military budgets are adequately funded to counter possible threats. He also emphasized the need for a more coherent organization of European defense and strengthened coordination between the armies.
Earlier, the head of the Munich Security Conference, Christoph Heusgen, said that the possibility of a Russian attack on a NATO member country cannot be ruled out.
A number of European NATO countries have also warned in recent weeks about the risk of Russian aggression in the near future.
German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said in January that the alliance must prepare for a Russian attack on a NATO country within 5-8 years.
