On Thursday, February 8, high-ranking German generals were spotted in one of the hotels in Kyiv. On that day, in Ukraine were, in particular, the head of the working group for coordinating assistance to Ukraine at the German Ministry of Defense, Major General Christian Freuding, and the Inspector General of the Bundeswehr, Carsten Breuer, who is considered one of the main military leaders of Germany and a confidant of the German Minister of Defense. Bild writes about this.
According to the publication, these high-ranking generals secretly arrived in the Ukrainian capital at the invitation of the former commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny. However, on the day of their arrival he was dismissed.
The German defense ministry said the purpose of the visit was “to further exchange information on current defense needs and future military challenges.” And the media write that this visit could speed up negotiations on military cooperation between the countries.
Let us recall that this week President Vladimir Zelensky dismissed Valery Zaluzhny from the post of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The head of state appointed Alexander Syrsky to this place; before that, he was the commander of the Ground Forces.
On February 10, Zelensky, by his decree, removed Valery Zaluzhny from the National Security and Defense Council and the Headquarters of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief. Syrsky took his place.
