The President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky on Friday, February 9, awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine to Lieutenant Colonel Vyacheslav Ageev, whose unit was the first to destroy the Russian ballistic missile Kinzhal. This was reported on the website of the Office of the President.
The order states that Ageev was awarded for personal courage and heroism shown in defense of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and selfless service to the Ukrainian people. He was also awarded the Order of the Golden Star.
“During the massive enemy attack, the anti-aircraft missile division under the leadership of Vyacheslav Ageev destroyed a large number of enemy air targets, including ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as UAVs,” the Office of the President said.
In an evening video message, the president said the first Russian Dagger was destroyed in May 2023.
