The enemy’s use of this ammunition, which the Russian Federation calls “hypersonic,” is indicated by photographs that appeared on the network with messages about its downing. In particular, on one of the fragments there is a marking “3M22”, corresponding to this particular missile. This was reported by Defense Express.
It is noted that the fragments of this rocket were discovered in the Dnieper district of the capital. The Ukrainian Air Force did not inform about the destruction of this type of ammunition. However, at 07:46 a high-speed rocket was reported to be approaching the capital. We were talking only about cruise missiles such as Kh-555/101 and Caliber.
Russian propaganda calls the ZM22 Zircon missile hypersonic. However, experts agree that this ammunition, like the X-47 Kinzhal, is a solid-fuel missile, that is, it simply accelerates to a significant speed, supposedly up to Mach 9. Its launch range is often stated to be within 600 km, although sometimes 1 thousand km is declared.
Let us recall that on February 7, the Air Force reported the destruction of 44 air targets: 26 Kh-101/Kh-555/Kh-55 cruise missiles, three Caliber cruise missiles and 15 Shahed-136/131 attack UAVs.
