It is planned to submit a package for consideration by senators, which includes funding for aid to Ukraine without border protection.
In the US, Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer intends to submit for consideration by senators a package that includes more than 60 billion euros in aid funding for Ukraine, without the issue of border protection. The Hill reported it.
It was noted that Schumer still plans to put to a vote a package that combines aid to Ukraine and Israel with protecting America’s border. So he aims to give Democrats a chance to vote for him and say on the campaign trail that they’re trying to solve the border crisis.
According to the publication, it is likely that this initiative will not be supported in the Senate, as the Republicans will block it. After that, Schumer plans to launch Plan B.
He intends to remove the border security clause from the package and put such an initiative to a vote.
It is expected that the bill will be adopted in this form.
It was previously reported that the White House would veto the bill to help Israel because it was considered incomplete. Specifically, the Biden administration wants the document to also include aid to Ukraine and Israel and funding for border security.
We remind you that the Lower House of Congress (House of Representatives) on Tuesday, February 6, did not approve the draft law of representatives of the Republican Party, which provides for the allocation of aid only to Israel.
