Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation Mikhail Fedorov announced this on social networks on February 6, commenting on the presidential decree on the creation of the Unmanned Systems Forces.

“As part of the Brave1 cluster, we are actively working on the development of ground-based drones that can partially replace a machine gunner or make his work safer, go on the offensive, transport the wounded or deliver ammunition to the front line,” the minister wrote.

He called the decision to create the Unmanned Systems Force as a separate branch of the military “super-important and historic” and emphasized that the potential of drones is extremely great.

A year ago, the Ukrainian Armed Forces created companies of attack drones at the brigade level. From the first day, we participated in their development: we developed a structural organization, a doctrine of application, trained, provided different types of drones, digitalized their work and interaction. During this time, drones have radically changed the situation on the battlefield. They effectively stop Russian attacks and support the counter-offensive of Ukrainian defense forces. The vast majority of equipment is hit by drones,” Fedorov noted.

In January, Ukrainian defense forces used a ground-based wheeled drone to disrupt Russian occupiers’ communications in their rear. Ukrainian military bloggers distributed the corresponding video on January 26.

As journalist Yuri Butusov said in a telegram channel, a kamikaze drone of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, equipped with a 55-kilogram charge, traveled about 4 kilometers to blow up enemy-controlled cities.
