The Ukrainian leader and ministers discussed Portugal’s participation in projects for the restoration of the Zhytomyr region.
President Vladimir Zelensky met with the Portuguese delegation, which included Foreign Minister João Gomes Cravinho and Education Minister João Costa. The press service of the Ukrainian leader reported this on Tuesday, February 6.
Zelensky expressed gratitude to Portugal for its solidarity and effective support to Ukraine in countering the armed aggression of the Russian Federation, as well as providing shelter for Ukrainian refugees.
The President highly appreciated the readiness of Portugal to participate in the restoration of educational institutions in the Zhytomyr region and the results of the Forum on the restoration of the region, which took place yesterday in Zhitomir with the participation of Portuguese ministers.
“I know that yesterday you had an active day in Zhytomyr and took part in the Forum on the restoration of the Zhytomyr region. I hope that the practical implementation of related projects will begin in the near future,” he said.
In addition, during the meeting, special attention was paid to the situation at the front and further defense cooperation between Ukraine and Portugal, in particular, the development of cooperation within the aviation coalition.
A special place in the negotiations is occupied by the topic of Portugal’s participation in the implementation of specific points of the Ukrainian Peace Formula and preparation for the Global Peace Summit.
Zelensky also reportedly presented Portugal’s Foreign Minister with the Order of Yaroslav the Wise, 3rd degree, for “his significant personal contribution to strengthening interstate cooperation, supporting state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.”
Earlier, Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa said that the fate of the world has been decided in Ukraine. He assured that his country will continue to support Ukraine at all levels.
