On Tuesday, February 6, parliament approved bills submitted by President Vladimir Zelensky to continue martial law. and general mobilization. 335 deputies voted in favor. 20 elected representatives did not vote. People’s deputies Yaroslav Zheleznyak and Alexey Goncharenko reported this on Telegram.
According to him, martial law and general mobilization will last 90 days – until May 13, 2024. This was the 10th Council vote on martial law since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Deputies, on the recommendation of the president, have already made such decisions five times in 2022 (February 24, March 15, April 21, August 15 and November 16), as well as 4 times in 2023 (February 7, May 2, July 27) and November 8 ).
As is known, during martial law the freedom of movement of citizens, foreigners and stateless persons, as well as the movement of vehicles, may be restricted. In addition, labor conscription or compulsory community service, or forced alienation of private property may be introduced. It is also possible for various institutions and organizations of all forms of ownership to switch to work in favor of defense.
Let us recall that on January 5, President Vladimir Zelensky introduced bills to the Verkhovna Rada on the extension of general mobilization and martial law.
