In particular, according to the Baza Telegram channel, Stegachev and his friend, a retired fire installation commander named Sergei, were near the garages on Petrovsky Street when they heard three shots.
It was reported that when the police arrived, three bullet casings allegedly from a traumatic weapon and a metal flask-tip were found at the scene.
Russian propagandists did not write whether Stegachev was killed. However, some have written that the military pilot allegedly retired before Russia’s massive invasion of Ukraine and now works for the Krasnoyarsk commercial airline. At the same time, they did not explain why he was in the city of Engels on Friday night – 3.5 thousand kilometers from the place of his “civil work”.
In turn, the Russian Telegram channel Fighterbomber states that as a result of the incident, the pilot was hospitalized with minor injuries after a “domestic conflict.”
There is still no official statement from the Russian Ministry of Defense about the shooting of the Russian pilot.
