The huge NATO military exercise Steadfast Defender 2024 is allegedly an attempt to “intimidate” Russia. This was stated by the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev on his VKontakte page.
The former Russian president said that some stages of the exercises will take place “in the most fiercely Russophobic and most hateful” Russian states such as Poland, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.
According to him, the exercises in the North Atlantic Alliance will take place “close to Russia’s borders” and assures that it is not being done to implement NATO’s defense plans, but to threaten the Russian Federation.
Medvedev concluded that training at this level indicates that NATO countries are “really afraid of something.”
“We will not attack any country in this bloc. All intelligent people in the West understand this. But if they play hard and interfere with the integrity of our country, they will immediately receive an adequate response. This means only one thing. big war, in which NATO will not back down. The same will happen if any NATO country starts giving its airports to Bandera supporters or quartering its troops with neo-Nazis. It will certainly be they are legitimate targets of our Armed Forces and will be mercilessly destroyed as enemies,” the Russian official said.

As we have already written, the Steadfast Defender 2024 exercise is the largest since the end of the Cold War. About 90 thousand military personnel of the North Atlantic Alliance and Sweden, which may join NATO, are participating in them. The maneuvers will last until May. During the exercise, the transport of troops to combat readiness, training and operational units will be carried out. It is planned to conduct at least 500 air combat operations.
