Training of specialists involved in demining in territories not occupied by Ukraine continues. The press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported this today, February 2.
Representatives of the Main Directorate of Mine Action, Civil Protection and Environmental Safety reviewed the readiness of one of the newly created units to carry out the tasks of clearing buried territories from explosive objects.
“The personnel have undergone professional training both in Ukraine and on the territory of partner countries and are constantly being improved in practical training in the field. The most trained demining groups are already carrying out assigned tasks in the territories not occupied by Kherson and Nikolaev regions, ”said the message.
The unit is reportedly equipped with Scan Jack 3500 mine clearance vehicles.
It is a 40-ton machine with a length of 14 meters, equipped with a six-cylinder diesel engine with a capacity of 215 horsepower, which drives the tractor. The speed when cleaning areas contaminated by explosives is 0.2-1.5 kilometers per hour. The Scan Jack 3500 is controlled from the cab using a joystick. In the rear there is a unit with chains that rotate at high speed and are capable of neutralizing mines and bullets at a depth of up to 40 centimeters,” the ministry added.
Earlier, the minister reported how many Ukrainian civilians were killed by Russian mines.
