All allies increased investment in defense industries following the Russian Federation’s invasion of Ukraine.
The United States has given Kyiv about $75 billion in aid since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced this on Thursday, February 1, as quoted by POLITICO.
At the same time, he emphasized that the United States is not the only country helping the defenders of Ukraine to fight the Russian invaders. According to the Secretary General, in terms of share of GDP, many European countries provide more military aid to Ukraine than the United States of America.
“Other allies and partners contributed more than $100 billion, and when measured as a share of GDP, most allies give more than the United States,” the NATO secretary general said.
He emphasized that the war in Ukraine is becoming a “war of attrition”, which will require the European and American defense industry to increase production, because after the start of Russia’s war against Ukraine, Western countries will “seen serious gaps” in the manufacture of ammunition.
Earlier, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry announced an increase in military aid from the North Atlantic Alliance.
The President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky held a meeting on Ukraine’s plans for this year in cooperation with partners in the European Union and NATO.
