In Ukraine, 42 people died from coronavirus and flu in one week – Ministry of Health

A high level of exceeding the epidemic limit was registered in the regions of Zhytomyr, Khmelnytsky and Chernivtsi.

Over the past week, 34 patients with the coronavirus and eight with the flu have died in Ukraine. This was reported by the Ministry of Health.

It was noted that on January 31, a high level of exceeding the epidemic limit was registered in the regions of Zhytomyr, Khmelnytsky and Chernivtsi. In five regions – Vinnytsia, Lviv, Rivne, Ternopil and Chernihiv – the average level. In other regions – non-epidemic level.

In the past week, from January 22 to 28, 185,402 Ukrainians fell ill with ARVI, flu and COVID-19, of which 96,120 were children under 17 years old. 3,492 patients were diagnosed with COVID-19 in one week. 6,120 people were hospitalized, of which 2,607 were children. Doctors reported 34 deaths among patients infected with the coronavirus and eight among patients with influenza. All those who died did not have preventive vaccinations against influenza and were not vaccinated against COVID-19.

According to the Deputy Minister of Health, Chief State Sanitary Doctor Igor Kuzin, Ukraine is now in the middle of the epidemic season for influenza and ARVI.

“Due to the circulation of influenza viruses, in 22 regions of the country there is an increase in the incidence of acute respiratory viral infections, including children. Considering weekly surveillance data, influenza is expected from January to April virus will prevail over the coronavirus infection,” he said.

We remind you that in the Vinnytsia region more than 180 schools have switched to distance learning due to the flu.

Earlier it was reported that in Kyiv the incidence of influenza and ARVI among children increased by 50% in one week.
