More than 900 Azov residents who held the defense of Mariupol for 86 days in 2022 continue to remain in Russian captivity.

The commander of the 12th special forces brigade “Azov” of the NSU, Lieutenant Colonel Denis Prokopenko “Redis”, announced this on his Facebook page.
We are waging a difficult fight against the invaders in the Kremennaya forest, destroying and capturing Russian military personnel, and continue to believe that the relevant structures are making sufficient efforts to free our heroes. I thank every Ukrainian who remembers their feat and fights for their freedom! – he noted.
Yesterday, January 31, another prisoner exchange took place – 207 Ukrainian servicemen returned home. Among them were two soldiers of the 12th “AZOV” brigade of the NSU.
However, my joy for their return is darkened by the fact that the relatives of the fighters who held the defense of Mariupol as part of the Azov regiment will again not see the names of their loved ones on the lists. In all the exchanges since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, only a few times did they have the names of my brothers. Although more than a year and a half has passed since the order to stop the defense of Mariupol was received,” Prokopenko emphasized.
