On Wednesday, January 31, at a meeting of EU defense ministers, the issue of obligations for further assistance to Ukraine was raised. This year, the budget includes 21 billion euros for military assistance to Ukraine. This figure is provided in the list provided by the Member States. The head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, said this at a briefing broadcast by the media.
According to him, 21 billion euros is the minimum that is currently known. Because not all EU countries have provided data on assistance plans to Ukraine for this year.
But we are talking about 21 billion for this year, compared to 28 billion in the previous two years, the EU high representative noted.
Let us recall that on January 31 it was reported that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Prime Ministers of Denmark Matte Frederiksen, Czech Republic Tomas Fiala, Estonia Kaja Kallas and the Netherlands Mark Rutte wrote a joint letter calling for collective efforts for long-term support for Ukraine.
