Macron’s party won the second round of parliamentary elections in France

The presidential bloc, however, did not receive an absolute majority of seats in the National Assembly, which could paralyze the work of parliament.

France held the second round of parliamentary elections. After processing 100% of the ballots, it was found that the block of incumbent President Emmanuel Macron had won the Ensemble! (Together!). The voting results on the night of Monday, June 20, were published by the country’s Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Thus, Macron’s coalition is supported by 38.57% of voters, left New Ecological and Social Union of People (Nupes) Jean-Luc Mélenchon receives 31.6% of the vote, Marine Le Pen party National Organization – 17.3%, Republicans – 6.98%.

So is the party Together! receives 245 seats in the new parliament, the Nupes bloc – 131, the Marine Le Pen party – 89, Republicans – 61. In addition, the parliament will have 22 deputies from various leftist forces, ten from various rightist forces, and ten regional deputies.

Thus, Macron’s coalition did not win an absolute majority of seats in the National Assembly. This is the first time there has been such a situation in France since François Mitterrand in the 1980s.

“Parliament will be paralyzed, and it will be difficult for Macron to pass laws, and especially controversial projects to reform the pension system,” Politico wrote.

It will be recalled that on June 12, the first round of parliamentary elections was held in France. Then the first place was taken by the pro-presidential coalition Together! (25.75% of the vote), minimally surpassed the nearest opponent.
