Two girls aged one and two years died in a fire in a house in the village. Grabnyak in the Zhytomyr region, the State Service of Ukraine for Emergency Situations reports on Sunday, January 28.
According to preliminary information, on this day the parents with their three older children went to their neighbors for a while, leaving the two younger children at home. When they returned and opened the veranda door, they saw smoke in the house, and in one of the rooms they saw unconscious children on the floor. They were taken outside and attempts were made to revive them, but they failed.
Most likely, the cause of the fire was clothes that caught fire near the stove when the parents left the children at home alone. The women suffocated from the smoke and carbon monoxide.
“Girls born in 2021 and 2022 died in a fire that occurred today, January 28, in a private residential building in the village of Grabnyak, Zhytomyr region. Probably, things and a children’s bed, who was standing near the stove, was burnt. ,” the message said.
