Two activists threw soup at Da Vinci’s masterpiece, which is protected by armored glass, and then stood on either side of the painting, chanting slogans.
Environmental activists poured soup on the world famous painting Mona Lisa (La Gioconda) by Leonardo Da Vinci at the Louvre Museum in Paris. The French media reported this on Sunday, January 28.
Photos and videos released show how two activists threw stones at Da Vinci’s masterpiece, which is protected by armored glass, and then stood on the sides of the painting behind a railing, chanting slogans.
After that, museum guards covered the painting from visitors with opaque protective screens.
Activists wore T-shirts with symbols of the Riposte alimentaire movement, which promotes the use of civil resistance to build a just and sustainable society and upholds the right to healthy food.
It will be remembered that in May 2022, a man tried to smear Mona Lisa with cake. He also tried to break the bulletproof glass. It later turned out that the man was an environmental activist.
We also note that recent actions by environmental activists in museums have become regular. Previously, they poured juice on a Monet painting in Germany. They also poured tomato soup on Van Gogh’s Sunflowers painting at the National Gallery in London.
An American shot and killed two environmental activists in Panama.
