As head of government Denis Shmigal wrote in his telegram, new fair rules for assisting IDPs will come into effect on March 1. Payments will be extended for another six months for:
- IDPs among pensioners
- citizens with disabilities of 1 or 2 groups
- children with disabilities,
- orphans
- children deprived of parental care and other vulnerable categories.
Szmigal wrote that subsequently “the Ministry of Social Policy will communicate the issue in more detail.”
In general, the state will continue to support more than 1.5 million internally displaced persons with payments.
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Irina Vereshchuk announced that payments to internally displaced persons would be reduced in Ukraine.
According to her, Western partners are putting forward demands to optimize payments.
Vereshchuk said that changes in payments are associated with a decrease in budget revenues:
We are directly tied to the decisions of our partners. Partners put forward demands to constantly verify payments in order to reduce or optimize them. The point is that, according to international standards, 2 years is enough to adapt.
In 2022, Ukraine allocated UAH 57 billion for payments to displaced persons. In 2023, this amount increased to UAH 73 billion.
It is planned that in 2024 the money for assistance for IDPs will again amount to about 57 billion UAH.
