An indictment was submitted to the court against the Russian oligarch, the Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Alexander Babakov, who contributed to the Russian military invasion and voted for the “integration into the Russian Federation” of Kherson and Zaporozhye region of Ukraine. This was reported today, January 26, by the press service of the State Bureau of Investigation.
Babakov reportedly voted for a number of federal laws on the merger of the Zaporozhye region and the Kherson region, along with the Snigirevsky and Aleksandrovsky districts of the Nikolaev region, into the Russian Federation.
He also, on Russian propaganda channels, in response to a question from Russian propagandist Vladimir Solovyov about the parts of the Donetsk and Kherson regions acquired by the Russian Federation, said that these regions economic territory, which Russia should not sponsor, but develop and use for its own economic purposes. Thus, he justified and recognized as legitimate the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine and the temporary occupation of parts of Ukrainian territories, the report said.
Babakov is suspected of interfering with the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine, as well as justifying and recognizing the legitimate armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
The penal articles provide for punishment in the form of life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The Prosecutor General’s Office reported that the High Anti-Corruption Court is considering a claim by the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine to recover the assets of a Russian oligarch for state income.
