The ratification of the Protocol of Accession of the Kingdom of Sweden to the North Atlantic Treaty, signed in Brussels on July 5, 2022, was approved.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has approved the country’s parliament’s ratification of Sweden’s NATO membership. This was reported by Turkey’s official newspaper on January 25.

“Confirmation Protocol on the accession of the Kingdom of Sweden to the North Atlantic Treaty, signed in Brussels on July 5, 2022, was approved. The provisions of this law are approved by the President of the Republic,” the document said.

We remind you that on January 23, the Turkish parliament approved Sweden’s membership in NATO. The only NATO country that has yet to make a decision on Sweden’s application is Hungary.

As reported, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, after a conversation with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, called on the country’s parliament to approve Sweden’s application to join NATO.
