The Defense Forces received these weapons as part of the coalition artillery. In total, Paris has already transferred six such installations to the Ukrainian army. This was reported on the website of the French Ministry of Defense.
The LRUs are equipped with an upgraded EFCS fire control system, a new navigation system using GPS and a new communications system.
As you know, the M270 MLRS multiple launch rocket system is built on the tracked base of the M2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicle and is designed to destroy closed firing positions in all weather conditions, enemy artillery and air defense positions, trucks and armored personnel carriers.
This MLRS has two universal units for six unguided/guided missiles of 227 mm caliber each. The system can launch 12 of these missiles or two ATACMS missiles with a diameter of 610 mm.
Let us recall that in January a coalition of artillery to strengthen the Armed Forces of Ukraine began operating in Paris. Allies will test Caesar fire control using artificial intelligence in 2024, the Department of Defense said. The use of AI will reduce the use of ammunition for sighting and hitting targets by 30%.
