In the Cherkasy region, law enforcement officials detained members of a group that forged documents and seized a plant worth more than 160 million UAH. This was reported on Wednesday, January 24, by the press service of the National Police.
It is noted that residents of certain regions with clearly defined roles are involved in this scam. Some of them are members of the thief in law’s inner circle.
“By falsifying some official documents and attracting the so-called “pounds,” the businessmen re-registered a share in the authorized capital with one of the group members and illegally replaced the head of the plant. So , the participants of the criminal organization illegally seized the entire property complex of the enterprise worth more than 160 million hryvnias.” , the police said.
Based on the collected evidence, investigators informed the five defendants of suspicion under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The business has now been returned to its rightful owners. The suspects were given preventive measures – detention with the right to bail and house arrest. They can be imprisoned for up to 12 years with confiscation of property.
It was also noted that three of their accomplices, whose case was sent to court earlier, were found guilty of unlawful seizure of business property.
