The attackers kidnap people close to the would-be victims to learn the details of their daily lives and the presence of a security system in their homes.
The National Police of Ukraine conducted a special operation to stop gang members who committed robberies against cryptocurrency traders. The Department of Strategic Investigations of the National Police reported this on Wednesday, January 23.
“Among the defendants are residents of Kharkov, Dnipro, Kiev, Kiev and Kirovograd regions. The attackers kidnapped people close to the future victims to find out the details of their daily life, having a security system in their homes,” the report said.
The criminal organization came to the attention of individuals whose activities are related to cryptocurrency. The attackers repeatedly held meetings to coordinate all details and plan escape routes, conducted reconnaissance of the area, selected weapons and equipment, and monitored the weather forecast so that in case of rain they will not leave traces in the place. Due to the fact that the members of the group are from different regions, they gathered on a certain date and place to hold a joint meeting.
The age of the detainees ranged from 23 to 40 years. Two other accused are already in jail.
It was previously reported that a gang that attacked a businessman was exposed in the Odessa region.
