Earlier, on January 23, the appeal court reduced the amount of bail from more than 349 million to 21 million UAH.
During the court hearing, the businessman’s lawyer Taras Poshivanyuk attached to the petition to appeal the decision of the trial court 10 letters about taking Mazepa on bail, including from the people’s deputy from the “Servant of the People” Andrei Gerus.
The prosecutor and lawyers filed appeals. The first asked to increase the bail amount to UAH 700 million, and for the defense to cancel the decision of the Pechersk court.
Mazepa received suspicion in the case of appropriation of state land near the Kyiv hydroelectric power station. The DBR believes that development of land nearby could lead to a man-made disaster.
The top businessman is suspected of creating a criminal organization and taking possession of 7 hectares of land near the Kyiv hydroelectric power station. These lands can be used for economic activities or used for inspection of hydraulic structures. Large-scale development is prohibited, as this could lead to a man-made disaster, which could affect not only local residents, but also the people of Kiev.
