Today, the Turkish Parliament began to consider the protocol on Sweden’s accession to NATO. The media wrote that the decision had already been made.

Turkey’s parliament approved Sweden’s NATO membership on January 23, leaving Hungary as the only country still needing approval. It was reported by BNO news.

Earlier, the media reported that today the Turkish Parliament began to consider the protocol on Sweden’s accession to NATO.

According to NTV Haber, an absolute majority of the votes of the representatives participating in the General Assembly is required for its adoption.

In a vote held on December 26 by the parliamentary foreign affairs committee, three parties voted in favor of the protocol, while the other two parties voted against it. A party does not participate in voting.

Let’s recall that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban invited Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson to Budapest to discuss Sweden’s application to join NATO. Earlier, in November 2023, the Hungarian parliament was not ready to approve Sweden’s application to join NATO.
