According to the President of the United States, Russia’s military aggression could threaten unrest in Europe.
The U.S. Senate could consider a resolution recognizing Russia as a sponsor of state terrorism. In the case of a positive decision, it will be submitted for voting in the House of Representatives of the US Congress. This was stated by People’s Deputy of Ukraine Yevhen Kravchuk, the press service of the Servant of the People party reports.
Kravchuk said they plan to consider the resolution next week.
“The head of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, expressed support for the resolution at a meeting with a delegation of Ukrainian parliamentarians. Before voting for a resolution in the Senate, it will first be considered by Foreign Affairs Committee, ”Kravchuk said.
The other day, US President Joe Biden said, in an interview with the Associated Press, that Putin does not plan to just stop in Ukraine, and if NATO does not respond, war and chaos will threaten the whole of Europe.
As Biden noted, despite political risks and a blow to the American economy, the United States had to deal with Russia’s aggression on Ukrainian territory.
Recognizing a state as a sponsor of terrorism allows the U.S. President to impose additional sanctions against it, limit or prohibit the sale of weapons, as well as dual-use devices and technology. This status also allows the country to refuse economic assistance and remove diplomatic security from its representatives.
Currently, the corresponding list includes four countries: North Korea, Cuba, Iran and Syria.
Earlier it was found that the sanctions in the West affected 87% of companies in Russia.
