Most of the missiles were intercepted by the base’s air defense system, others were hit, US Central Command said.

The American Al-Asad airbase in Iraq was hit by Iranian-backed militants. About that reported US Central Command on Sunday, January 21.
“At approximately 18:30 (Baghdad time) on January 20, Iranian-backed militants fired several ballistic missiles into western Iraq at the Al-Asad Air Base,” the report said.
The command noted that most of the missiles were intercepted by the base’s air defense system, while others hit it.
“A number of US military personnel are being evaluated for traumatic brain injuries. At least one Iraqi service member has been injured,” Central Command added.
However, the damage assessment is still ongoing.
Earlier, the media reported that an air base containing US troops had been attacked in Iraq. He was attacked by “at least a dozen rockets or artillery shells.” Two munitions appear to have fallen on the base.
We remind you that on the night of January 16, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched strikes on targets in Iraq and Syria. The Iranian side claimed that “ballistic missiles were used to destroy the spy centers and concentrations of anti-Iranian terrorist groups in the region.” Specifically, the target of the strike was allegedly “the spy headquarters of the Israeli Mossad in Iraqi Kurdistan.”
