Zelensky called for blocking ways to avoid sanctions

All diplomatic representatives of Ukraine should be more active so that partners respond more actively to each case of evasion of Russian sanctions. President Vladimir Zelensky said this in an evening video message to the people of Ukraine on Thursday, January 18.

“We continue our dialogue with our partners about the sanctions against Russia – their full impact. All our diplomatic representatives must be more active so that our partners respond more actively in each case of evading Russian sanctions. This is not just an abstract question – it is about how the state -terrorist manufactures weapons, in particular missiles. All Russian missiles are there are dozens of critical components manufactured abroad, and many of them by companies from the free world. Today there is a corresponding report from the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine, Alexander Litvinenko. Clear facts. So blocking Russia’s ways of evading sanctions is literally blocking terrorism. I thank all understanding partners and everyone in the world who helps us in our work,” Zelensky said.

In addition, Zelensky reported a conversation with French President Macron, in particular about plans for further defense cooperation and security guarantees for Ukraine.

Another message is about a meeting with the head of government Denis Shmygal.

“The first is energy, the protection and capabilities of our energy system. Today’s consumption is high, the threats from the enemy are very serious, but the professional work of our energy workers and everyone responsible for protecting in energy facilities allows us to supply the country with light and heat. And this is significant. Also today there was a separate report on the protection of strategic energy facilities,” added the president.

During the meeting with the prime minister, they spoke, in particular, about the situation in the financial system.

“The situation is stable, social payments are given in full. And at the same time – without emissions. And, by the way, I want to thank all our state taxpayers – each and all that supports jobs in Ukraine, ensures production, works legally and cleanly. For the last year we had – despite the war – economic growth of 5%, and an increase in tax payments, corresponding to economic growth. This is a clear sign of Ukraine’s strength. And the state really appreciates everyone who, despite all the difficulties, works, pays taxes and thus supports our opportunity – a common opportunity – to defend the state and freedom,” Zelensky said.

Shmygal separately reported to Zelensky about the construction of fortifications.

“The work continues, and my gratitude goes to everyone involved. The results are what we need,” the president emphasized.
