The North Atlantic Alliance will hold its largest exercise in a decade.
Reuters reports this.
The alliance will demonstrate its ability to strengthen the Euro-Atlantic region through a transatlantic rollover of troops from North America, NATO chief Christopher Cavoli said after a two-day meeting of the National Chiefs of Defense Staff.
The purpose of the large-scale exercise is to test the defense of NATO’s eastern flank.
Recently, Military reported that the UK will send its military personnel to participate in the Steadfast Defender 2024.
The deployment will include 16,000 British Army personnel based in Eastern Europe from February to June, a Royal Navy carrier strike group and submarines, as well as F35B Lightning II fighters and surveillance aircraft.
Today I can announce that the UK will send around 20,000 troops to take part in one of the largest NATO deployments since the Cold War, British Defense Secretary Grant Shapps said.
It was also recently reported that the Bild publication came across a script for a NATO exercise, where a major Russian attack is being practiced.
The scenario depicts Russian and Western actions month by month, culminating in the deployment of hundreds of thousands of NATO troops and the inevitable outbreak of war in the summer of 2025.
