The government will introduce a new version of the mobilization bill to the Verkhovna Rada not in the next few days – we are talking about weeks.

    .

This was stated by Deputy Minister of Defense Natalya Kalmykova on January 15 during a telethon.

Kalmykova emphasized that the new version of the bill must go through approval by the government.

The Deputy Head of the Ministry of Defense asked to specify the timing of introducing the bill to the Rada.

“We would like it to be days, but we understand that it will most likely be several weeks,” she replied.

Kalmykova later added that the start of implementation of the provisions of the bill is also expected within weeks or a month.

On the evening of January 11, the Ministry of Defense announced that they were ready to submit a new version of the bill for approval by the government in the near future. Minister Rustem Umerov wrote about this on his Facebook page.

The mobilization bill was returned for revision, since in the Verkhovna Rada its provisions would be difficult to redo if they corresponded, in particular, to the Constitution, people’s deputy and member of the National Security Committee Roman Kostenko told the League.

The People’s Deputy noted that the General Staff and the Ministry of Defense should specifically carry out mobilization, and the Verkhovna Rada is responsible for ensuring that it is done on a legal basis.

At a meeting of the heads of factions, at which it was decided to return the bill to the government for revision, it became known that there were not enough votes to pass it in the first reading. This time it was not possible to cover the deficit of mono-majority votes with votes from OPZZH, “Trust” and “For the Future”. Therefore, they decided to return the bill on mobilization to the Cabinet of Ministers for revision.

A large number of deputies from “SN” spoke out against it, the “Eurosolidarity” and “Batkivshchyna” factions refused to vote in full, and OPZZH, “Doverie” and “For the Future” decided to vote partially.
