Ottawa believes these should be assurances, not guarantees, but they see no problem with this.

Following the UK, Canada is preparing to sign a bilateral security agreement with Ukraine. Ottawa has already sent a draft document to Kyiv for approval. This was announced by Canada’s Ambassador to Ukraine, Natalya Tsmots, reports European Pravda on Monday, January 15.

“I am very pleased to inform you that on Friday Canada sent Igor Zhovkva (Deputy Head of the Office of the President – ed.) a copy of the agreement to begin more detailed negotiations to complete negotiations between Canada and Ukraine shortly. week,” said Tsmots.

Tsmots noted that Canada believes it should be a “security assurances” agreement, but sees no problem with that deadline.

According to him, this is a common strategy for G7 countries seeking to urgently provide Ukraine with these “assurances”.

We remind you that on January 12, Ukraine signed a security agreement. President Vladimir Zelensky called the agreement “unprecedented.” “We have agreed with Britain on security in all areas – on land, in the air, at sea, in cyberspace, in broad political engagement,” he said. However, later it turned out that Zelensky and Sunak did not agree on the wording of the security agreement, in particular, whether it was possible to talk about “security guarantees” from Britain.
