A landslide came down a busy highway in the mountainous region of Choco department, covering several cars and a house.
At least 34 people have died in a landslide in the Choco department in northwestern Colombia. The country’s Vice President Francia Márquez expressed condolences to the families of the victims and noted that there were children among the victims. Reuters wrote this on Saturday.
It was indicated that 19 other people were injured.
The landslide occurred in the west of the country in the area between the cities of Medellin and Quibdo. Due to the incident, a house was destroyed, nearly 50 people were trapped under the rubble.
The road connecting the city of Medellin and Quibdo in the department of Chocó was temporarily closed due to damage from several landslides.
On the same road, near the municipality of Carmen de Atrato, many got out of their cars to hide in a house, which was then covered by a new land shift.
Search efforts were seriously complicated by the continued downpour in the affected area.

The landslide almost destroyed all the tourist facilities in the resort and damaged the infrastructure, cutting off Shovi from the outside world.
