The UK and US are about to launch strikes on Houthi military targets in Yemen. Biden is also expected to speak on the matter.
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has authorized airstrikes against Houthi positions in Yemen in the near future. So, Britain will join the United States in the fight against the Houthis. The Times newspaper reported this on the evening of Thursday, January 11.
Sunak is understood to have discussed the attack on the Houthis with Egyptian President El-Sisi, as any attack from the British Akrotiri base in Cyprus would have to cross Egyptian airspace.
Earlier on Thursday, Sunak informed his cabinet that a military strike against the Houthis was imminent.
In response, Houthi leader Abdel Malek al-Houthi announced the mobilization of most of the country’s provinces under Houthi control.
The Iraqi resistance said: “If Yemen is attacked, we will strike with full force the American military bases scattered throughout West Asia.”
In addition, The Times newspaper journalist Stephen Swinford wrote on social networks Xthat after the US and British airstrike against the Houthis in Yemen, which is expected tonight, American President Joe Biden will make a statement. US allies will also issue statements.
Meanwhile, Sky News also reported that strikes on Yemen will be carried out in the near future, and that anti-missile defenses at American sites across the Middle East are on full alert.
It was also learned today that the EU is preparing an operation to protect ships from the Houthis in the Red Sea, however, it will not start until the end of February.
Let’s remember that the Houthis have warned all international shipping companies against cooperating with Israeli ports and warned that they will attack all ships going there.
