Mariusz Kamiński and his deputy Maciej Wońsik were sentenced to two years in prison for abuse of power while heading the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau.
The former head of Poland’s Central Anti-Corruption Bureau (CBA), Mariusz Kaminski, and his subordinate Maciej Wonsik were detained by police at the presidential palace in Warsaw. This was announced on Tuesday, January 9, by the Deputy Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Poland Czeslaw Mroczek in Twitter (X) and TVN24.
“The police received the court order this morning. According to the information I have, the former deputies stayed in the President’s Office even before the police received the documents from the court… They were detained pursuant to the court order, ” Mroczek wrote.
It was previously known that Mariusz Kaminski and Maciej Wonsik were sentenced to two years in prison. The district court in Warsaw found him guilty of many crimes in the so-called “land scandal”, which involved bribes.
According to journalists, Vonsik and Kaminsky were detained on the territory of the presidential palace at about 19.30. At this time, Duda went to hold a meeting with the leader of the opposition of Belarus, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya.
