Currently, an Educational Security Service is being formed in educational institutions. The presence of trained police officers will protect children from threats. There will be 500 police officers working in schools in the spring of 2024. Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmigal announced this on January 9 at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, according to his Telegram channel.
The selection of 500 workers who will start working in the spring continues. This is one of the elements of a comprehensive concept for the safety of educational institutions,” the head of government noted.
The presented concept also provides for the organization of safe transportation of students, fire and industrial safety, an early warning and evacuation system, as well as a clear algorithm of actions in the event of dangerous situations.
According to Shmygal, 88% of schools and 93% of students and teachers are provided with school shelters. The condition of shelters in schools is under special control, and the authorities want to increase the indicator to 100% and modernize storage facilities that need updating. The state budget for this year includes 2.5 billion UAH for this purpose.
Let us remind you that in the fall of 2023, the Kharkov authorities promised to build the first underground school in Ukraine. In this educational institution, children will be able to study even during missile attacks, and the school itself will meet modern regulatory requirements for protective structures.
