The press service of Ukrenergo reported this today, January 9.
It is noted that the level of consumption continues to grow:
- yesterday, January 8, the daily maximum consumption was in the evening, it was 9.5% higher than the corresponding figure on the previous working day, January 5;
- as of 9.00 today, the consumption level is 5.8% higher than yesterday’s figure, which was already quite high.
The reasons for the increase in consumption are:
- significant increase in cooling;
- healing of consumers lost power due to bad weather in a number of areas. In regions where power supply is restored, rapid immediate growth in consumption is recorded.
Ukrenergo notes that turning on devices immediately after power supply is restored not only creates a significant additional load on power plants, but also overloads the electricity transmission and distribution networks.
Please, after the power supply is restored, do not turn on all powerful electrical appliances at the same time! – noted in Ukrenergo.
The company notes that the electricity produced by power plants of all types is sufficient to ensure power supply to all consumers. However:
- a significant increase in consumption due to increased frost creates an additional load on power plants, which are already operating at maximum power, but must additionally very quickly and significantly increase electricity production, which can lead to technological disruptions;
- most thermal power plants are still recovering from massive missile attacks last winter;
- solar power plants cannot operate at maximum capacity due to dense clouds and bad weather.
We ask consumers in the coming days to carefully consider the use of energy-intensive electrical appliances throughout the day from 09.00 to 19.00. To help the power grid operate in a balanced manner under such challenging conditions, please consume electricity sparingly! – the company notes.
