The White House held a meeting with representatives of leading defense companies, where they discussed providing Ukraine with modern weapons.
On Monday, January 8, the US Presidential Administration held a meeting with representatives of twelve leading American defense companies to discuss the production of weapons for Ukraine. This was reported by Reuters in connection with unnamed senior White House officials.
It was noted that the meeting was attended by heads of companies representing various areas of the American military-industrial complex.
According to the agency, US President Joe Biden’s national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, called the meeting to demand “a new focus on helping Ukraine and addressing some key technological challenges that they identified as impeding progress and its momentum on the battlefield.”
Participants include managers from Palantir Technologies and Anduril Industries, mainly specializing in defense computer systems, as well as Fortem and Skydio, which deal with drones and counter-drones.
Participants in the meeting discussed how Washington could provide additional military aid to Ukraine. In particular, they discussed mine clearance technologies, drones and systems for combating Russian drones.
The White House noted that the United States is trying to expand Ukraine’s access to the most modern American technologies. American officials also confirmed that the companies represented at the meeting are working directly with the Ukrainian government.
Let’s recall that in November, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valery Zaluzhny, in a column for The Economist, said that for development on the front, Ukraine needs five basic capabilities and technologies of military: aviation and air superiority, improved electronic warfare (EW), expanded capabilities for counter-battery warfare, modern technologies for mine clearance, formation of reserves.
