The Chancellor noted that Germany is the largest supplier of arms to Kyiv after the United States, but German aid is not enough.
EU states must provide more aid to Ukraine in 2024, as the volumes planned by most states are “too small.” German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said this on Monday, January 8, Handelsblatt reports.
“I call on our allies in the European Union to also step up their efforts for Ukraine,” Scholz said.
He recalled that Germany is the largest arms supplier to Ukraine after the United States. For 2024, supplies of weapons and materials worth 8 billion euros are expected, as well as humanitarian and financial assistance worth billions. However, German aid alone will not be enough for Kyiv, the chancellor said.
We remind you that last week Germany transferred a new weapons package to Ukraine. It includes the new Skynex self-propelled anti-aircraft gun along with ammunition. Berlin also transferred additional Patriot missiles and IRIS-T SLM air defense systems.
