The number of bilateral shipments by Polish carriers has decreased by only 5% since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Ukraine has fulfilled its part of the action plan agreed with the Polish government for unblocking the border with Ukraine by Polish carriers. Now Kyiv is waiting for further steps from the Polish side. Deputy Minister of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Sergei Derkach announced this on Sunday, January 7, in a telethon.
He emphasized that the new Polish government is interested in ending the conflict and is trying to solve the problem of blocking the border as soon as possible.
At the same time, as the official noted, the request of Polish carriers to cancel the agreement on the liberalization of transport from Ukraine cannot be fulfilled.
“This has been confirmed by the EU and the Polish authorities,” said Derkach.
The official added that Polish carriers are manipulating and deceiving, saying the cancellation of permits for Ukraine allegedly “killed” the Polish market.
“The number of bilateral transport by Polish carriers has decreased by only 5% since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine,” emphasized Derkach.
Let’s recall that on January 6, the Polish government signed an agreement with farmers to end the blockade of the border crossing with Ukraine at the Medika-Szczegin checkpoint, which Polish farmers continued after a break on January 4. Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Czeslaw Sekierski promised to satisfy all the needs of farmers.
