The Danish Ministry of Defense has not made any statements about a possible delay, so there is no need to “make a fuss,” the Air Force said.
The Spokesman of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yuriy Ignat commented on the information that appeared in the Danish media about the alleged delay in the transfer of F-16 fighters to Ukraine. In the telethon, he emphasized that only official sources of information can be trusted.
“We are looking at the website of the Danish Ministry of Defense. There are no statements there. The publication refers to some of its sources… Of course, it is not simple,” said Ignat.
He noted that Ukraine is rapidly preparing for the transfer of Western F-16 fighters.
“Because, what are the sources there and what is happening there, I cannot confirm with you, because not much has been disclosed. We are looking at official sources. Do the partners say something? They don’t say anything. There is no need to make some kind of catastrophe or hell out of this,” – said the spokesperson.
Ignat added that Ukrainian pilots are constantly learning. “…I would like (to receive the aircraft by the end of the year – Ed.), but we are already talking about the terms ‘in the spring’… Infrastructure is being prepared in Ukraine, pilot training continues. . . .” he added.
We remind you that the Danish publication Berlingske, citing the Danish Ministry of Defense, reported that the delivery of F-16 fighters to Ukraine has been delayed for about six months. It is said that many conditions have not been met for Ukraine to use these combat aircraft.
It was previously reported that Denmark will provide Ukraine with 19 F-16 fighters and the first six of them by the end of 2023. Overall, the country now has 44 F-16 aircraft, but for reasons security it did not say how many are in service.
