Among the factors allegedly influencing the delay is the training schedule of Ukrainian pilots, whose schedule depends on equipment and weather.
Denmark will delay the delivery of F-16 fighters to Ukraine for about six months. This was reported by the Danish publication Berlingske in connection with the Danish Ministry of Defense on Saturday, January 6.
It is said that many conditions have not been met for Ukraine to use these combat aircraft.
“The six aircraft are expected to leave for Ukraine near the New Year. However, according to the current schedule, the donations are expected to take place in the second quarter of 2024, according to the Ministry of Defense,” the statement said.
Among the factors allegedly influencing the delay is the training schedule of Ukrainian pilots, whose schedule depends on equipment and weather.
“In addition, work continues with the international air force coalition to ensure the creation of the necessary material and technical base and infrastructure in Ukraine,” the publication wrote.
It was noted that six Ukrainian pilots are undergoing training in Denmark. Eight more F-16 aircraft are expected to be delivered from Denmark to Ukraine in 2024, and five more in 2025. Whether these deliveries will be delayed is still unknown.
It was previously reported that Denmark will provide Ukraine with 19 F-16 fighters and the first six of them by the end of 2023. Overall, the country now has 44 F-16 aircraft, but for reasons security it did not say how many are in service.
The Netherlands also announced that it will provide Ukraine with 42 F-16 fighters. They will be transferred after the training of Ukrainian pilots and engineers.
In addition, Ukraine may receive F-16 aircraft from Norway and Belgium.
