Ukrainians trying to escape from their homeland often take unnecessary risks. Often this ends in tragedy. In 2023 alone, about 20 men drowned in Tisza. And these are the ones who were discovered. The State Border Service of Ukraine reported this on social networks.
It’s better not to tempt fate and not be inspired by stories about “successful trips across the border,” border guards emphasized.
The State Tax Service also reported that they caught ten men trying to escape to Moldova. These residents of different regions, having contacted the organizer, “hired” a ferry to Moldova. To cross the border, each of them paid 5 thousand dollars. However, instead of a ferryman, a squad of the Mogilev-Podolsk border detachment was waiting for them on the banks of the Dniester. All violators were given “tickets” to court.
Let us remind you that the media reported that in the period from February 2022 to August 31, 2023, almost 20 thousand people liable for military service fled from Ukraine. The men crossed the borders of Romania, Moldova, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia.
Ukrainian border guards detained more than 21 thousand men while trying to cross the border. At the same time, 14 thousand 313 people tried to cross the border on foot or by swimming.
