The young man flew over the counter and knocked Judge Mary Holthus to the floor, after which he began punching her. Law enforcement officers ran up to the defendant, but the man fought with them. The judge suffered a head injury.
Redden was charged with attempted grievous bodily harm. The husband asked the court to acquit and release him. Judge Holthus sentenced him to prison.
In response, the man overshot his lectern, jumped over the judge’s stand and attacked the judge. Law enforcement officers rushed to separate them. A scuffle ensued, during which the US and Nevada flags were toppled.
The judge received minor injuries; one of the law enforcement officers, Delone Redden, had his head broken and his shoulder dislocated. As a result, instead of one charge, 13 new ones have already been brought against him.
