Russia chooses periods before cold weather for its massive attacks. So power engineers are preparing for a possible strike.
There will be no collapse of the Ukrainian energy system even in the event of a massive attack on energy facilities during a cold snap. The head of the board of NEC Ukrenergo, Vladimir Kudrytsky, announced this on Wednesday, January 3, at a telethon.
He noted that Russia chooses periods before cold weather for its massive attacks.
“We have already been through this about 20 times. This, of course, will create additional problems for us. But I am sure that it will be a question of the duration of possible interruptions in the power supply due to damage to any thing,” Kudritsky said.
He also noted that low temperatures are a test for any energy system.
According to Kudritsky, in order to avoid possible blackouts, it is necessary to carry out all the power units that are currently undergoing repairs and use the possibility of importing 1,700 MW of electricity from abroad. Ukrainians should also consume electricity sparingly during the morning and evening hours.
Let’s recall that last week the Ministry of Energy reported that as a result of shelling, overhead lines and equipment of substations in Kyiv, Dnepropetrovsk and Kherson regions were damaged.
Earlier it was reported that Germany gave Ukraine a “winter” energy aid package.
