Russian attack: how many missiles failed to reach Ukraine

One of the Russian missiles that flew over Kyiv today hit a village in the Voronezh region.

During a massive missile attack in Ukraine, Russian troops hit their own village in the Voronezh region. Local authorities in Petropavlovka immediately announced an “accidental fall of ammunition” and no casualties. However, a video published on social networks shows that the rocket destroyed at least one street in the village.

Destruction and death

Residents of Petropavlovka said that the bullet fell at approximately 8:38 local time (7:38 Kyiv time). This was when Russia launched cruise missiles from Tu-95 MS aircraft from the Voronezh region in the direction of Ukraine.

“Today, an emergency drop of our ammunition was recorded in the Ostrogozhsky district. There were no casualties, but the destruction was previously recorded in seven households,” wrote the governor of the Voronezh region, Alexander Gusev.

He modestly mentioned that as a result of the explosion, windows and roofs were damaged in the village. Although video footage taken by eyewitnesses shows that some houses have been almost completely destroyed, there are explosion craters on the street itself.

Later, the opposition Russian public reported that as a result of a rocket landing in the village of Petropavlovka, 11 people died, including three children. Another 21 people were injured. In addition, according to preliminary data, an improved modification of the X-101 missile fell on a Russian village and did not reach Ukraine.

From marriage to sabotage

The Russian Ministry of Defense later admitted a missile attack on its own village. According to their version, today at about 9 o’clock in the morning, during the flight of a VKS aircraft over the village of Petropavlovka in the Voronezh region, “an emergency convergence of aircraft ammunition occurred, no one was killed.”

“Six private buildings were damaged. An investigation into the circumstances of the incident is underway. A commission is working in the area to assess the nature of the damage and provide assistance in restoring the houses,” the message said.

The Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces also responded to the situation. They said the incident could have happened due to haste and a manufacturing defect, or it could have been intentional.

“It is quite possible that the hastily produced stock has not been fully processed: there are some production defects. In addition, the destruction of the pilots of the Russian aviation itself cannot be left out, because we continue to work on internal unrest in troops. And there are facts when the aviation pilots went next to us. We know how our intelligence works. Therefore, I want to believe that somewhere in that depth there is something human, and, maybe , in such a way that the soul does not cause sin, certain pilots worked like that,” said the head of the Joint Coordination Press Center of the Defense Forces of Southern Ukraine, Natalya Gumenyuk, live on the FREEDOM TV channel.

How many missiles failed to reach Ukraine?

The missile incident in the Voronezh region is not the first in the Russian Federation. So, in April last year, a Russian Su-34 aircraft, which was supposed to launch a missile at Ukraine, dropped an aerial bomb on Belgorod. The local public then shared photos and videos of a crater nearly 20 meters wide in one of the city’s central streets.

Officials reported only two injured Belgorod residents and several damaged buildings. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, as was the case in the Voronezh region, then explained the incident as an “extraordinary convergence of aircraft ammunition.”

Today, the Ukrainian economist Anatoly Amelin, out of curiosity, simply compared the statistics of the Russian Ministry of Defense and the Ukrainian General Staff. So, the occupiers claim that they fired 110 missiles into Ukraine. According to the order of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, only 83 arrived in our country. That is, we can conclude that 27 missiles did not reach Ukraine.

Aviation expert Valery Romanenko confirmed that such statistics may actually exist and that almost 20% of Russian missiles “remain” on Russian territory.

“The launches were over the sea, and there they went into the water. This option cannot be left. It is also possible that the missiles hit places where they have not been identified. The missile can fly and encounter radio interference, or at low altitude “see” something new, for example a mast… You can see where they go in Kiev – mainly in tall buildings, which are not on the maps of the computer,” explained the expert at Radio NV.

But in general, he said, most of the ammunition still ends up in the Caspian Sea.

“For any Western country, this is a scandal and an investigation, but for the Russians, I don’t think, it will cause any special waves. But it is an indicator. An indicator that they are changing the technological chain of missiles on the fly,” added Romanenko.
