In the released video, the man said he didn’t know it was illegal to launch fireworks.
On New Year’s Eve, law enforcement officials received several notifications about the launch of fireworks in Cherkassy. The offender turned out to be a native of Russia, the National Police reported on Monday, January 1.
It was indicated that the police interviewed witnesses and eyewitnesses to the incident. They also reviewed video from surveillance cameras.
“Law enforcement officials determined that a 38-year-old native of the Russian Federation, who has been a permanent resident of the city of Cherkassy since 2014, was involved in hooliganism. The man bought the pyrotechnics that were seized by the police in Internet,” the report said.
The police documented the offenses and compiled the relevant materials, sending them to the court.
In the video released, the man said he didn’t know fireworks were prohibited, and apologized “if he suddenly caused a disturbance.”
The previous day, information appeared on social networks that an unknown person allegedly launched fireworks at Osokorki in Kyiv. Police later said it was fake and the video was from last year.
