By the end of 2023, factories in Ukraine increased the production of domestic armored personnel carriers fivefold compared to the spring of 2023. And public and private companies produced 3.4 times more armored vehicles in 2023 than in 2022. Minister of Strategic Industries Alexander Kamyshin announced this at a press conference on December 27, Ukrayinska Pravda reports.
Of the projected growth of our GDP by 4.9%, the share of the defense industry is 1.5%. “We are proving that the defense industry will be the locomotive of our recovery… We are not yet where we can meet all our needs with our production, but strategically, all our needs for armored vehicles will be able to be satisfied by several Ukrainian companies, including private ones,” he said.
According to the minister, Ukrainian enterprises have more than doubled their production of domestic anti-tank systems, “which at the front have sometimes proven themselves even better than their foreign counterparts.”
Kamyshin also noted that the Ukrainian defense industry can produce Bogdan self-propelled artillery units in quantities of up to six units per month.
Let us remind you that the Minister of Strategic Industries Alexander Kamyshin said that the Ukrainian military is already using the first domestic hybrid air defense systems of the FrankenSAM type in the war. Also, state-owned enterprises are already producing electronic warfare systems for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
